Resumo

The Rio do Peixe Water Resources Management Unit (UGRHI ? 21) of the São Paulo State has a serious problem with water resources, due to poor management of land use and occupation in both rural and urban areas. As a consequence of man-made interventions without proper planning, the development (acceleration) of erosive processes (ravines and gullies) is intensified, mainly in rural and expansion urban. The erosive processes cause the production of large quantities of sediments that contribute to the silting up of watercourses, especially the Peixe River and its tributaries.
