Resumo

Water erosion leads to soil disintegration and transport, mainly due to surface runoff and strong flooding. The purpose of this study was to analyze the variability oftheMUSLEequation resultswith different methodologies for calculating the LS factor and DEMs (SRTM and TOPODATA). Three LS factor models were elaborated from the SRTM DEMs with spatial resolutionof30m and 90m and TOPODATA and compared to themanual methodfor obtainingLS. Based on the results of this research, we observed that the LS factor values generated by the manual method are higher than when using the automated method. When compared to observed sediment production on the measured events both methods overestimated the production, with the automated being closer to the measures. When comparing the different DEMs,the SRTM with 90m resolution presented the best results, followed by the TOPODATA. These resultsdemonstrate the importance of evaluating different DEMs and methods for obtaining the LSfactor for estimate the sedimentproduction on a basin
