Resumo

The increase in disasters due to the occurrence of landslides has driven the improvement of mapping predictive models. Being one of these models, SHALSTAB offers advantages due to the small number of input required parameters, such as geotechnical ones. However, it is difficult to determine these parameters, which influences on the reliability level of the created maps. Precisely for this reason, the benefits of the geotechnical parameters measuring are not yet clear in the use of this model. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to verify the advantages of the characterization of the geotechnical units in the SHALSTAB application to the Jaguar stream basin (25 km2) in the municipality of Alto Feliz, Rio Grande do Sul state. Byusing the geotechnical data obtained in this basin and also data proposed by software default, different scenarios were simulated. As their results, slope instability maps were generated for statistical analyses. The results showed that the scenario with the best performance was constituted by discretized values by geotechnique units allied to the maximum number of sampling points. This indicates the importance of the characterization of the geotechnique units in the study basin to use the model.
