Resumo

The city of Blumenau is located within the valley surrounding the Itajai River. The town´s history is often marked by natural disasters associated with extreme precipitation events, resulting in dire direct impacts to the population. The present work presents a brief study of precipitation patterns within the town´s limits, as well as its impacts shown by the issuing of official storm alerts, rising of the Itajai River and landslide probability between 2015 and 2017. To provide this data the information was obtained by the pluviometric automatic stations from Blumenau´s rain monitoring and alert system (AlertaBlu). Preliminay results indicate different rain patterns throughout the seasons, with irregular rain patterns in the warmer periods of the year, and an uniform pattern in the colder periods. It was also possible to estimate the pattern of effects associated with each precipitation pattern, showing a larger tendency to the occurrence of gradual flood events within autumn, winter and spring, as well as a higher probability of flash floods in the spring and in the summer. The evidence also indicates a high risk of landslides and other land mass movement throughout the year..
